10k will get you started. You will still have a 60+ year old truck with no noise abatement, no power steering, no a/c. It depends what you are looking to do. if you don't do all the rest of the upgrades the truck is barely any more useable than it is now. Maybe 1000 miles a year use. To really use a 4bt conversion truck you want Dana 60's proper gearing, tires, wheels, power crossover steering, Shackle reversal, new springs, hydroboost, disc brakes, AC is a must, gauges, radio, wiring, noise abatement, Seats, Interior, radiator, intercooler, pto, drive shafts, exhaust... all the body work and paint work and extensive fab work. All of this will add up to 30-50k in parts etc. Anything less is a ~1000-2000 mile a year loud truck. I have had help with getting 2 done, both of which I sold, and I have one partially complete in my own garage. I would go buy a left over 2014 ram 2500 4x4 cummins for 40k and then just enjoy the 230 motor for 500 miles a year. Spend your 10k making the pw very nice. Everything the contributors have said is true. These are very extensive projects, and it is very easy to lose interest when you are unable to drive or use the truck. No amount of money or time will make it as nice, quiet, and usable as 2014 cummins truck. What is it you are realyl trying to accomplish, and how much will you really use the truck (miles). Best of luck, it is all for fun!
