I did not say the 318 was the better route. I just gave comparisons of cost and easy of the conversion. I love my diesel conversions, if I still had all the original equipment, I would not swap back. However, knowing what I know now, and if I was starting all over fresh, I would give very serious consideration and ponder and ponder if I would go the diesel route again. Strictly because of the VAST amount of money that will be spent. Knowing my self, I probably would go diesel against my better judgement LOL.

The reason I stated in a earlier post in this thread; " My main reason was low end torque just off idle. I can off road, have max torque, use proper gears & 4x4 and have low R's, never spinning tires. And much less chance of twisting a axle off, if properly driven."

Now one great and huge advantages in all my conversions was the knowledge I gained. All my skills were polished, new tools were purchased, new material usage was learned, painting skills were learned. Its a great experience. You can not buy that learning experience anywhere.

Now some will say I am bouncing between Gas and Diesel, dont know what I want. No, I prefer diesel over spark infested, gas guzzling, high rpm engines. But the choice is high cost and also what is your skill level.

In all my posts on this thread, I am not discouraging a diesel conversion. I want to expose the cost and pit falls so a new person wont start this expedition, run out of money, get discouraged and end up with piles of parts and never have a completed running PW.

I am here to help anyone wanting to go the diesel route, I enjoy that kind of help. I will hold you hand all the way to first drive. BUT......only after you do a lot of research on cost, your skill level, time available and true desire. If anyone says I have done that and am ready to go diesel, I am here.

Paul
