As someone else inspired by Paul's builds his 10K number is probably really generous. I think that basically assumes all you really need to buy is the swap hardware. I'm at least twice that after almost 6 years and am really just getting into the expensive part, though to be fair my truck was probably too far gone to do what I'm doing.

The other part of what is said is "if you can do it all in your shop". Which means what is your background? What tools do you have. You'll quickly realize that little 20-gallon compressor you bought at the local home store is not going to cut it for much more than removing lug nuts and putting air in tires. I've probably spent another 10K in tools and equipment to do the restoration.

It's worth looking over the PWA forum too, one of the reasons I've put as much detail in my thread there as I have is to try and show a lot of the stuff that people don't think about when they think about a restoration. It's a big jump from weekend warrior type projects to a full-on custom build.

I understand your desire, I'm right there with you, but everyone here is just trying to help you keep your eyes open to reality, once you open the box there is no going back.
