Hot air in differentials, axles and transmissions cools quickly in water. Hot air contracts and makes vacuum. What's there to fill the void? Water gets sucked in from everywhere. Properly equipped vehicles have vents you can close and open and are located up high.
Would be cool to meet the mermaids in APB's video...
