Redo every 5-10,000 miles. Lube the zerk with waterproof grease.

But the more modern, more dependable ones use a 'cartridge', new shaft with bearings,and seal. Press apart the old one, press in the new cartridge, press on the impeller and fan hub. 100,000 miles like new cars.

I just buy new ones if the newer style.
