I have a Ranger in my '67 W200. I wanted to be able to use it in 4 wheel drive so was the only option for me. I use it that way but have not really beat on it. I say that because when I first drove big rigs they were almost all twin boxes and you never pulled OD in the Brownie in lower gears (first and second) because it had the potential to break the gearbox. I know of a couple boxes that happened to (not me) but has not been an issue with the Ranger.

I did have to swap gear boxes because AA would not build it to fit a Dodge NP tranny. After about 6 months of wrangling (more like begging) I ended up deciding I wanted it bad enough I would go with an SM465/205 married combo.

Works really well, raises the TC up so not so vulnerable and fit so well it looks like it came from the factory this way. Only downside has been I don't like the SM465 shifting nearly as well as NP435. I will admit I am currently running a $100 Craigs list combo that I bought to run only one hunting season and am on probably the fourth season right now. Had a lot of miles so shifts pretty hard when cold better when warm.

HTH and overall I would do it again. I think there is a way to adapt a Ford NP to a Chevy 205. If I ever get time I will work on figuring how to do it and changing mine out to this setup.
