I have in fact, seen and interfered with people using a quarter ton pick-up to tow a 25ft. camper trailer. I caught one of them just before the start of a 6% downgrade.
And just to reassure you, I always have the hitch checked out for cracks and other damage. I did have one guy try to sue me because I used my gears and engine brake to slow down and only touch the brake when I have to. He had been cited at the scene
for texting and driving, so the judge just laughed at him and dismissed his action.
