In looking at the parts list for the 47-56 power wagons, it does not show a glass bowl fuel filter mounted to the carb. The exploded diagram for the carb also does not show an integral fuel filter in the carb. Although I've seen in the archives that if they did not have a integral filter in the carb they had a glass filter attached to the inlet.

I have a E7S1 carb and have a glass bowl fuel filter mounted to the carb with a paper element. However, when the engine is at full temp and it's real hot here (95+), after idling at a stop light the engine stumbles when accelerating. It takes maybe 30 seconds of stumbling until things go back to normal. My thought was that perhaps the glass fuel filter is not helping since it's holding a good volume of fuel near the exhaust manifold and perhaps causing vapor lock (though this is the pressure side of the fuel system so I would think this is less likely).

I have put in new fuel lines, new fuel pump, and rebuilt the carb. The vacuum release on the gas cap works. Everything runs great except this issue when it's hot. Any thoughts? I'm thinking of getting rid of the filter by the carb, but I haven't yet cleaned the tank out. The sediment bowl at the fuel pump doesn't get much in it so I think the tank isn't bad. The glass filter by the carb does pick out some tiny sand like particles over time so it seems like I should keep a fuel filter somewhere, I don't want to clog a jet.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks, Anthony
