It's a 1940 model VF-31, which makes it a 1-1/2 ton 4x2 truck with a 133 inch wheelbase. The unusual lowered headlights were required for certain trucks sold in California, so it likely was sold new by a California truck dealer and remained in Calif. for its life. It still sports a black and yellow Calif. license plate. The rear window guard makes me wonder whether it was built for the military. Neat old truck, but slow and underpowered for today's traffic.
