What type of seals are you using?

One of the biggest drivers of heat for these is the offset output to the rear, it requires all the power to go through the gearing in the transfer case which means increased friction and heat. Running the center output like Paul suggested from either transfer case will help those temps in 2WD as the drop gears are not carrying power, but the centered axles seem to be getting harder and more expensive to find.

A good synthetic lubricant is probably the easiest way to help drop temps, they do work, but obviously you'll want to fix the seal first before pouring in $$$ gear oil.
