OK all, I don't usually ask much on the forum although a enjoy reading it daily and learning. Probably 20 years ago I picked up 5 NOS sock filters, each were already old at that time. My guess is they were from the 50's or 60's. They each came in their own individual box, and the last time I checked them they were clean and the cloth seemed fine to the touch. Not brittle, not easy to tear, etc. But they have been kept in my uncooled Florida, fairly humid garage. Although my parts are in there too, and they don't seem any worse for wear for rust, nor are my tools, all of which have been in there 25 years. So I have two questions.
First, as long as the material is not brittle, not falling apart or whatever, being that they are probably 50 years old, should I even risk using them ? Second, are these sock filters better or worse at filtering the oil compared to the WIX filters we get now a days that do not fill up the whole inside of the larger oil canisters on the FH 6's ? Opinions please... Thanks in advance !
