I have a T handle oil filter container on my 1952. I just ordered a new filter and it arrived last week...new in the box...it looks like a big cotton sock.
If I could see your configuration it could help me help you.
I have heard that the filter might be a bit tough to get into the container...bending? Not sure.
I say just straighten it out again and compress it to fit the ID of the canister.
