Or, just fill the carb bowl and squirt a little gas down the carb. You will have enough fuel to know if it's going to fire and run.

No use worrying about the fuel system if the engine won't run.

I have a lawn mower fuel tank which I sit on the roof. Outboard fuel tanks with the primer squeeze bulb are the trick setup for getting motors running.
