So, I bought some 3/8" and 5/8" chain from Tulsa chain. It is high quality chain...certified made in USA- with a letter to prove it. This is better quality chain than you can get at a farm store.
Even as good as it is..I bought some chain at a farm sale that looks even more robust...not the homemade links that connect the hook to the chain but the links themselves have more mass around the link weld itself...alot more. It would be interesting to test them side by side....again the links only . Also it seems my old tools have better steel...even old chisels stay sharper longer...old vises seem stronger..what's with that?
