A little while back I asked some questions about using the PTO winch and idle it is!!

I've got the correct 5/16" brass shear pins in mine shaft as well. I replaced my wire rope with a 3/8" synthetic winch line, and I've ordered 3 of the winch line dampers that you hang over the line in the event of a breakage.

I'll probably keep low and peek over the top of the dash when I'm winching, but I plan to at least be proactive with the other safety items to at least reduce some of the risk, and not be ignorant of it.
