If all of them were dead, then my wife and I would be among them. I tried the stuff maybe a half-dozen times when I was younger- it didn't do squat for me. (Un)luckily I have ADHD, and stuff like that has the opposite effect on me, anyway. I never saw the point in staying up all of the time, speeding ones arse off. I was told it was because some of them are afraid they are going to miss something; ironically, it is SLEEP that they are missing.
My wife actually spent almost two years in prison for possession of manufacturing ingredients and of the drug itself. The day she got out of prison (Lincoln in Illinois), she packed her bags and moved to Indiana. She's been 100% totally clean for 11 years now (and I, nine), and would never touch ANY kind of illegal substance again. We're probably the biggest anti-drug people we know. Aside from an occasional beer, our only habits are coffee and cigarettes (smoking is nasty, expensive, and kills people every day- I can't wait for us both to quit). After nine years together, I can't imagine a better wife, mother, or fellow grease monkey in the world. We've never been each other's rock to lean on to stay clean- we've never needed it. We met at the right time, when we were both done with that sort of crap.
Unfortunately, I have lost many friendships to drugs, both methamphetamine and prescription drug misuse. While neither my wife nor I ever even contemplated stealing or lying from/to anyone at any time during our experimenting with that sort of thing, I have been stolen from and lied to by lifelong friends on prescription pills before (she said it was ten-fold up where she was back then). I never forgive a thief, because as an alcoholic (recovering, four years now), I never ONCE stole something to get drunk. If I was broke, I'd ask to borrow money for a drink, or ask to do work in order to get enough for one; that's where alcoholics differ from drug addicts.
Now, however, call me a hypocrite if you wish, but I COMPLETELY agree that all drug addicts of ALL types should be eradicated from the planet. A thief is a thief, but a meth'ed-up thief or pill-head thief is far worse. Sherman, I hope you find out who stole from you, and if/when it happens, press charges to the utmost that you can. The quicker they are caught, the less that will be stolen elsewhere. Just remember that most meth addicts return to where they've stolen before. Post No Trespassing signs everywhere, post threats of being shot if caught, then load up and fill their toucases full of lead if they attempt it again.
