All the US and Canadian built trucks I've seen pictures of used the T handle from 1938 on. From what I've seen a Fargo badged PW built in 1954 would have been identical to the Dodge in every way except the Fargo badge, Fargo tag, and the Fargo tailgate. I can't imagine why the one handle would have been different? I've seen lots of pictures of Fargo PWs and all of them used the T handle.

I think the image you saw is one of the classic examples of an owner claiming their truck is 100% original even though they bought the truck 30 years after it was built. I've seen that sort of claim many many times. I view weird details with healthy sceptisism until I see period proof or multiple identical examples. Too many trucks were modified in the name of function in the last 60 years as nobody back in 1959 cared about originality.

Find other original Fargos and check. It might be a weird factory detail, but I doubt it.

Eric
