Finally got around to cutting and loading a nice red oak that had fallen on the farm last year. Three 12 foot sections, the largest about 30 inches in diameter. The tree was on a point between a ravine high above a creek. We winched the sections downhill with the PW and onto a flat where I could drag them with the tractor. I'll post some pics from my brother sometime. Loaded the logs on the trailer with the front forks on the tractor and some creativity. Boy, what a load! Threw on two black walnut logs that had been laying around for a few years and a section of an ash tree that came down a year ago also. The ash borer beetle is not here yet, but it will be soon. The guy that does sandblasting for me has a saw mill and offered to cut the logs for free once he gets it running again. I'm thinking boards mostly, or posts if the outside wood is too far gone. We'll see what works best. Next time I'll try to get the logs cut quicker and maybe a little smaller! Fun stuff.
