Very often the joint is rusted in place so tightly that even if it's overloaded, it won't shear the pin. Now's a good time to break it free and put some grease or anti-seize in it so it will shear when you need it to. If it's well-stuck, you may need to remove the drive shaft and knock the outer part back by beating on it with something. If it slips freely, you're in luck, but you still may need to pull the shaft back so you can drive the broken pieces of the shear pin out.

I'm not sure what the proper shear pin for an M37 is supposed to be. I've seen official M35 winch shear pins and they're hard aluminum. Folklore has it that in general a grade 2 bolt is soft enough to be safe as a shear pin for any winch. I did shear one off once, and nothing else broke, so that's what I use.

As for the cable in the socket, not sure how it could come out of the socket was attached properly. For a neat and strong job, I would take that to an industrial rigging shop and have them do it. They don't charge much and they have the tools (big press and dies) to do it right.
