I've never been to such an event but I have an item here that I'd sure love to see one of those guys save.
The Shipyard here...we have a steam powered air compressor that supplied the Shipyard with air. The steam was made in a central boiler & then this compressor was driven with pulleys & a huge leather belt.
Problem is it weighs tons & nobody's motivated to put the effort into saving it & so it's going for scrap....sadly.
Should be in a museum, me thinks.
