It is at the capacity. Although it is interesting it has 7 taps and the chart on the cover recommends #6 for 3/8". Also the specs say 3/8" in a single pass. I don't have much experience on welding beyond 1/4" obviously but if I set it at 4-5 it will weld the 3/8" and it looks really nice and even seems to be strong on practice welds but I worry about the strength so I went up to 6 and then it just won't hold a steady arc.
