I was going through some old National Geographics the other day and saw an article from the 1950's about a trip across the Sahara by a (British?) couple in a Land Rover. They wrote about roads that were just two ruts in the desert and the French oil companies starting to build real roads and of course sandstorms and camel-traders and I kept thinking there has to be a PW in this somewhere. Looked in the background of the photos and couldn't find any. Finally I found the one passing reference to a PW; when the land rover was hopelessly stuck, they were pulled out by a "Dodge Power Wagon" that happened by. Wish they'd taken a picture.
