Try any 12 volt coil, without running ballast resistor they are all 6 volt. But you'll have to match a condenser to the coil. You'll have to find a "condensor trouble shooting" chart.
If points burn w/ deposit on one side, too much condenser. If deposit on other side of points, not enough condenser. Back when I ran a Yamaha DT-1 (1971)with 2 coils and 2 spark plugs I used 2 condensers- revved much higher lighting from 2 sides if cumbustion chamber.I know I've seen harley's running Mallory Super coils and other auto coils but not being much into wide rides,I don't know the particulars. The newer electronic cars (from 1975 up) use a hot coil- GM to 40,000v.My ford f150 uses a small coil that looks like a transformer, uses spade connectors. NOTE- if you use a junk yard coil- the condenser on the side is radio noise suppression only, the ignition condensing is done electroniccaly, you'll still need an ignition condenser (or 2). I don't think you've got anything to lose but a set of points.Time for a trip to junk yard?
