In 1959-60 1/2 ton 4wds were 8 bolt, 3/4 tons were 6 bolt, and 1 tons were 6 bolt.

Starting in 1961 all W100s and W200s had the same axles, and they both used 8 bolt rims, only the spring rates were different. 1 tons still had six bolt Dana 70s.

The exeption to this rule is the Crew Cabs, and some other special order trucks that had the big knuckle Dana 44, but they were still 8 bolt rims.

This changed in 1969?, I think when the 1/2 tons went to 5 bolt rims, though the basic front axle did not change.

The rear axle did.

As for a mid sixties 1/2 ton 4wd short box being rare, well yes, but not compared to other Dodge trucks at the time.

I think there were 300-600 V8 1/2 ton 4wds(I don't have a break down for short boxes) made every year from 1961-1966, but there was only a few more(sometimes less then 100 more) V8 W200s made during the same time, so they are all rare.
