Canada to US title change

OK, so I wasn't listening to all the previous forum posts on this subject. I am looking at the Town Wagon Diesel Conversion truck in BC and thinking to myself "Nice Truck but it would be a nightmare of red tape" First of all, With the newer Frame/engine. Does the year follow the body or the frame? And what kind of nightmare could I expect at the California DMV. Assuming IF the Candian title is clean and clear, would there be a border problem? Would I need to hire and agent? Just wondering. It is a super nice truck that would be perfect for me.
