Heated Windshield Glass

As most of us know, the defrosters in the old Power Wagons are not that great (an understatement). In M37s they usually aren't there at all.

I've found a reputable glass manufacturer that will make electrically heated glass panels which can be installed into the windshield frames of WDX Power Wagons and M37s. Panels can also be cut to fit the rear windows of these trucks, as well as rear glass in W-series trucks, and WC Carryalls and Ambulances.

These panels are 1/4" thick, made of laminated annealed glass with a clear conductive layer sandwiched between the glass. A current (usually 40 watts/sq ft) is passed through the conductive layer, which heats the glass. The glass is rated (meaning it will melt ice outside and/or clear moisture inside) to -20 deg F. The panels are certified for use in the US.

Right now I'm looking for confirmations of interest in this. Prices and specs are as follows:

Power Wagon windshield (2 panels) - $263 plus shipping. Pulls approx 14 amps at 12 volts. I don't recommend using this glass with a 6 volt system unless you've installed a heavy relay (30 amp minimum) and have ensured that the slectrical system will handle it.
M37 windshield (2 panels) - $395 plus shipping. Pulls approx 22 amps at 12 volts, or 11 amps at 24 volts.

Please contact me by e-mail if you are interested, or if you want additional information. I'll send you all the details, including warranty information, etc.

Thanks very much,
Greg
