This is a step down resistor that drops the nominal 12v down to about 6v for the ignition system. I have no idea why they didn't use 12v, but they don't.

Best way to tell if you have a bad resistor is that the truck will fire and run as long as the key is in the start position, but the engine dies as soon as the key returns to the run position (the resistor is bypassed during cranking so the coil receives 12v and produces a hotter spark, then goes to 6v during normal operation). If your truck is doing something else, you have another problem as well.

NAPA should have these in stock, part no. ICR-23. Buy two and put one in your glove box for next time.
