Maybe, it was making enough compression to fire while it was still running, but the last trip did it in.
Parking for three hours had nothing to do with it. Once you shut it down, you weren't going to get it fired again.
Try putting compressed air to the weakest cylinder while is at TDC. If you can't build pressure or if you hear air leaking out of intake, exhaust or see bubbles in the radiator, you will know.
I went through the same thing with an old Corolla. The State of California would have given me something like %1,000 if it was running. I decided it wasn't worth my time to get it running and sold it to Pick-a-Part.
