I must have been having a senior moment last night. I was stuck on that double bevel on the inner stud/nut. Once I got in bed and laid there awake for an hour thinking about it, my mind finally worked its way out to the outer lug nut. Of course. Makes perfect sense now. The outer nuts center the outer dual - not the inner stud/nut.
