Here is a picture of the basic framework.
Two channels running parallel and above the frame. (4", I believe)
I had a local shop break the outside perimeter pieces to form a channel, but with a radius instead of a hard angle, to make it look a little more period-like. (1 1/2" x 4" x 1 1/2")
The cross channel pieces ( 1 1/2") span between the outside perimeter pieces. They come to rest on top of the 1 1/2" lip at the bottom. This leaves approx. 1 3/4" for the rough cut 2" x 8" deck boards.
The rack behind the cab is 2" heavy wall square tube which slides into 2 factory made receiver tubes that are welded in place vertically on the outsides of the 4" channel. This allows the rack to be removed.
I made a frame of angle with 1/2" rod welded between to protect the window and the cab and bolted it in place for easy removal.
