It's not too hard to find an insurance company that will let you take your truck out for an occasional spin in addition to club and maintenance activities. On my policies, there is an overall mileage limit which is far beyond what I will ever drive the trucks. The insurance company is American Modern.
Insurance companies are usually pretty strict about you driving to and from work. Expect a little more scrutiny if an accident occurs during a time you might be commuting to or from work.
