Yes, it was a good movie. The big downside to it, is it made you think there was only few men in the unit, when there was over 500 of them in the ETO.
The truck was a WC52, and it was modified so John Goodman could drive it. If you have ever sat behind the steering wheel of a WC, then you know how tight it can be for some one who has not missed many meals. The WC52 had the seats pulled out and a bench seat put in for more room. The motor and transmission were replace with a Mercedes motor and automatic transmission.
The truck was sold on e-bay after the movie was made, in the sell was the original motor and transmission, just in case the new owner wanted to convert it back.
