We left the central valley for San Bernardino last friday nite. We were being sent down as a "preposition" for the expected wind and heat event in Southern California.

We arrived late late Friday nite, Saturday morning. We ran fire calls for two and a half days in San Bernardino. The third day, afternoon, the Bernardo fire broke in san Diego. Code 3 from San Bernardino to San Diego, about three hours.

Did a 24 hour shift, and then due to numerous other fires breaking out the following day, we had no relief. So we did another 24 hour shift. Then we turned that fire back over to San Diego City fire, were heading to find a place to sleep and were diverted to the Coco fire, or as some may have heard the San Marcos fire. We did a 24 on that, and once again had no relief due to more fires starting and equipment being diverted to them.

This morning it caught up to us, almost all of us on the strike team were sleeping this morning when our relief finally showed up, so we were sent to a hotel, when some were emptied due to the civilian evacuation orders being lifted. Its now 2:30 pm.

Yesterday another large fire broke out near Camp Pendalton, to go with the one they already have there.

Just took a shower, paid some bills to keep the utilities from being shut off at home and about to crash out.

Rough shifts. We lost quite a few homes, and a homeless person was found as a casualty on our division.

K, thats it, can barely keep my eyes open. Nite
