no they mortgaged the Ford logo. they were totally broke before the financial collapse. they were about to go bankrupt and got that line of credit. if mullaly had not got the loans privately they would have been in the same boat at GM anbd Chrysler. that is why Mullaly was in congres with the CEOs of GM and Chrysler to help them get the loans. Japans government has been subsidizing its auto makers since teh 30s. same in Europe. WE only do when the going gets rough.
