they are all independent in the GMs for decades. total joke of a front axle. hit the gas too hard inreverse and the diff grenades. my buddy gave up on his 2009 diesel crewcab after the 3rd diff exploded. now he drives a 50,000 dollar 2 wheel drive. their is a company somewhere that converts the GM trucks to straight axle and bigger rear diff. basically they are bringing them up to the strength level of a Dodge/Ram. GM uses American Axle not Dana anymore. same with Dodge but Dodge uses a bigger rear diff than the GMs do.
