Maybe I used the wrong term.

To me anything not restored close to stock is a hot rod. I know there is a stricter definition, but a modern chassis with an old body dropped on it is not a restoration by my standards no matter how nice the end product. Nothing wrong with what you're planning to do as long as nothing super rare gets cut up when common parts would give the same end result. I look forward to seeing your completed project.

If you don't know where your cab and front clip came from then there is no loss as the possible factory 4wd chassis is gone. If you are getting a D100-D300 front clip the fenders are different than those used on a W series and you may want to track down some D500 fenders to complete the look.

If there is a W100-W200 chassis please try and save it.

I'm sure we all look forward to seeing your progress.

Eric
