That was not my experiance. When I was restoring my 52 M37, I had the original early transmission. I obtained a new style transmission, and rebuilt it. It bolted right up to the original bell housing.
And, ys, the M37 tranny will bolt directly up to the crashbox Power Wagon bellhousings.
