Make sure you have something worth starting with. Sometimes, what you have is just a parts truck and you would be better off buying a truck that's a good starting point.
The main killer is rust. The second is a butchered truck and the third is an incomplete truck. All can be overcome with time, money, effort and skill. But, some trucks just need to be parted out.
Post some pictures. We would love to see them. And, we will give you an opinion about whether you are headed down the right road. You will get a variety of opinions, but if you hear a strong set of voices saying you have a money pit, you should probably listen.
