Does anyone have any information on the type of steel being used by Dodge for frame MFG during the war? I used some of my old vintage steel design manuals for bridge structures/structural steel produced during the time frame and they all have it listed as A7 grade with a big asterik * EMERGENCY STANDARDS... and I can't find any information on the exact specs of the Emergency standards. I'm guessing that it was a much more relaxed QA/QC process since they were producing as much as possible as fast as possible. I've found a few rolling imperfections in my WC53 frame that are obviously mill flaws so I am wondering what kinda specs I am looking at.

Additionally I am plating the frame in a few places due to some cracking (truck was rearended) and there are places where extra holes have been torch cut that are now no longer needed. Just to play it safe I am using a TIG and Copper Nickel Monel filler rod and the plates are all A36 grade steel. The information I've found on the older bridge steel places it in the 36-46 ksi range, however the tougness is much lower as well as the ductility before fracture. All of my chassis brackets will be bolted to the frame, and through bolted through the boxed portion so nothing will be attached to the frame section that is a "frame welded connection".

Am I shooting in the dark and just go with my assumptions? Anyone have any expertice on this?
