The brake lock is jeeps fancy name for brake based traction control. Brakes the spinning wheel. My wife has a 4 door Rubicon and I am not real impressed with the traction control. It uses the rear brakes and at 80,000 miles I am about to change my second set of rear pads. I am pretty sure traction/stability control is the law now so I bet all new vehicles are this way. The rest of the jeep is kind of in a class by itself. When we bought ours a Rubicon stickered for 30,000 with everything which was cheaper than anything else SUV with a frame. Now suvs with frames are pretty much nonexistent. And nothing other than a much larger PW has a front locker.
