Sort of like what Earle S Gardner did with Baja in the 40's in his book, "The land of shorter shadows".
When we were in Panama about 5 years ago, I recall travel advisories about the Darien area. Apparently there was an issue with Columbian drug criminals being active there and kidnapping/ransom issues.
