This one has been weighing on my mind too since I will hopefully be ready to go there in a few weeks.
From what I've read base/clear will hold up better long term as well as providing that "new car" shine, but it requires more trips around the car and hence higher potential for issues.
In any event I'm enjoying the discussion, if I ever get done sanding I'll have to finally decide.
