I used to have a sailboat with all kinds of wire rigging. If you are installing new cable, check out a chandlery (boat store). Many of them can swage a fitting directly on the end of a cable at a cost lower than the multi-piece units. West Marine can do it and they also sell fittings out of their catalog.
For me, a winch is just for looks. Mine came with one clamp, so I was looking around for a couple more just so the winch would look usable.
The 7/16" cable clamp seems pretty unusual. There's one place on Ebay that sells the clamps, but they are in England. I'm sure I will come across a couple clamps eventually.
No hurry, since that winch is on a truck without a PTO :)
