As DaveS has said, it's very dangerous to mount 900-16 tires on the original 1/2 ton wheels. I have been running 900-16's on M-37 wheels since 1992 with no problems. With this set up, your final drive ratio is 4.6 compared to 4.89 running the 750-16's. Your start from a stand still is slower and it creates more work for the original type brakes to stop the truck. That having been said, I personally would never switch back to the smaller tires. Just remember, that the 230 will be working harder to move more weight than with the original tires. I have also installed a set of 4.30 third members in my WC-12 which brings the final drive ratio down to 3.94. I can cruise down the highway at 60MPH,(the fastest I would want to go) turning around 2400 RPM"s or so. On big hills though, the truck loses power very fast and I have to shift into 3rd gear. I plan on getting a rebuilt cam with more lift and duration for the 230. This will help, some. I also have a 236 IND7 flathead which I will have rebuilt one of these days and a do a cam grind, porting and balancing before Installing it in the WC-12. The 25" Engines seem to like higher revs than the 23" Engines. Things to consider in addition to to the tire change.
