The soft sanding blocks are the ticket on corners. You really only need a board on large flats.
The key is to take a couple strokes from one direction, then change directions... Keep changing.
Be sure you're using a guide coat or there's absolutely no way to see when you've sanded enough.
You also need a squeegee...sand for 5 or 6 strokes, squeegee & rinse your paper.
You'll get the hang of it.
