Jerry, I have a similar unit on my flat bed farm 4x4, got it cheap at a swap meet. On the shortest jib setting it's rated at 1000 lb with 250 at the longest, however I've managed a 8 foot hardwood strainer post 14" diameter with it by myself. Sure it's over-loaded, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Saves my back a lot and makes life easier, so a great thing IMHO. You have to be careful when using it on hill sides as gravity tries to take over. Mine is mounted close to the edge of the bed about 2 1/2' from the front of the bed to get the best coverage. Think about where you want to mount it and make sure you have PLENTY of support and good bolts to hold it all together. I used a piece of 5/16" thick plate steel about 2'x1' on top of the bed, cylinder head bolts through the crane mount, plate and cross bars under the bed floor, with a piece of angle iron under the bed floor to further support it. Great for moving rocks and bits of wood too big, or other things too heavy to lift by myself.
