Like the regular G-wagon or the Hummer, it's a fully functional military vehicle built for Australia originally I think.
These are just given really pretty interiors and a big honkin gas motor. All three axles are powered and it has 5 locking differentials to keep power wherever you want it.
It's an impressive vehicle, but the one they tested was in the middle east and probably owned by some sheik who wants to be able to run around in the desert.
