The single nut can be replaced by the two nut setup. Quad 4X4 has the kit if you can't find the parts locally. My single nut setup has a small lock that inserts after the nut is tight. Factory manual calls for replacing the lock when removed. I don't remember if it calls for replacing the nut. I much prefer the two nut setup.
