I believe Wittenberg was the guy's name. The yard was in Federal Way, Washington, not far from where I grew up, although I didn't know anything about M37s back then. I have one that's in rough shape, but gets around okay in the woods. The tilt hood is ugly as sin but might convenient for working on the engine. The "conversion" as I understand it consisted of replacing the front clip with the fiberglass contraption, adding a civilian MU2 winch, which required torching out the radiator support, and adding a fiberglass cab. Mine has 12 volt electrics (what little it has), but I don't know if that was part of the Wittenberg conversion or not. What I'd like to know is what Mr Wittenberg did with all the sheet metal he took off. The Wittenberg yard on Hwy 99 is long gone now. From Google street view it looks like some strip mall is there now.
