My Father is an FFL holder and has built several AR's including an AR10 (.308). If you find a company, depending on where you are located and whatever paperwork is required, he can get whatever you need at near wholesale prices. Then again, Wal-Mart has been selling AR's (even COLT) for well below what he can buy the kits for. My neighbor pickup one up for something like $400 before tax in .223, of course it is as base as it gets and doesnt even have a forward assist.
